DWYER NAMED NEC SWIMMER OF THE WEEK

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Following a weekend in which she won both breast events and helped the 200 medley relay team to a victory, junior Brianne Dwyer (Hicksville, N.Y.) has earned Northeast Conference Swimmer of the Week honors, announced by the conference office on Tuesday.

The award is the first that Dwyer has earned in her career with the Bulldogs. She becomes the second Bulldog to earn Swimmer of the Week honors this season, joining classmate, and six-time winner, Casey Ostrander (Yarmouthport, Mass.).

Racing against Holy Cross, Dwyer won both the 50 and 100 breast events and helped the 200 medley relay team to a victory. She touched the wall in the 50 breast with a time of 31.11 and won the 100 breast with a time of 1:09.35. The victory in the 100 marked the first time she had won the event this season. Dwyer currently holds the school record in the 100 breast with a time of 1:06.85, set last season at the NEC Championships.

Bryant is currently preparing for the NEC Championships that will take place from Feb. 22-25 at the Zesiger Sports and Fitness Center on the campus of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
