BULLDOGS IN THIRD PLACE AFTER DAY ONE OF THE NEC CHAMPIONSHIPS

RESULTS

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – A pair of record-breaking relay finishes has placed the Bryant University women's swimming and diving team in third place after day one at the Northeast Conference Championships.

Earning 64 points for a second- and fourth-place finish, the Bulldogs trail Saint Francis (PA) (80) and Central Connecticut (66) in early competition. The Red Flash won both the 200 medley relay and 800 free relay, setting conference records in both events.

Bryant's quartet of Casey Ostrander (Yarmouthport, Mass.), Brianne Dwyer (Hicksville, N.Y.), Kaitlin Buckley (Duxbury, Mass.) and Taylor DeBever (Denver, Colo.) finished second with a school-record time of 1:45.18. The time edges out the previous mark of 1:45.42, set at last year's conference championships. It was also nearly five seconds faster than the Bulldogs' best time this season.

The Bulldogs' 800 free relay team followed with a fourth-place showing, breaking another school record with a time of 7:39.08. Molly Smith (Belmont, Mass.), Mara Valenzuela (Bridgewater, N.J.), Caitlin Hanahoe (Prairie, Minn.) and DeBever swam the circuit for the Black and Gold.
