Bulldog women third after day one

BEHIND YU, BULLDOGS THIRD AFTER DAY ONE OF HAROLD ANDERSON

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Freshman Dana Yu (Bridgewater, N.J.) finished second in the 50 free and the 200 free relay team also earned a second-place finish as the Bryant University women's swimming and diving team finished in third place after day one of the Harold Anderson Invitational.

The Bulldogs earned 209 points on the first day of competition, tying the University of Maine for third place. Rhode Island leads the way with 304 points and Providence is in second with 227.

Already having an outstanding freshman season, Yu matched her season-best time of 24.78, finishing just six one-hundredths of a second behind URI's Sarah Keshishian. The Bulldogs also received top-10 finishes from Taylor DeBever (Denver, Colo.), Molly Smith (Belmont, Mass.) and Lauren Doerrman (Oley, Pa.). DeBever finished third in the 500 free with a time of 5:06.66 and Smith (2:14.45) and Doerrman (2:14.69) finished seventh and ninth, respectively, in the 200 IM. Yu and DeBever then teamed up with Kristie Chan (San Francisco, Calif.) and Mara Valenzuela (Bridgewater, N.J.) to earn a second-place finish in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:39.12.
