Tardif, Ostrander earn NEC weekly honors

TARDIF GARNERS PROGRAM'S FIRST-EVER DIVER OF THE WEEK; OSTRANDER SWIMMER OF THE WEEK

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Freshman Courtney Tardif (Windham, N.H.) became the first Bryant University diver to earn Northeast Conference Diver of the Week honors and senior Casey Ostrander (Yarmouthport, Mass.) was named co-swimmer of the week, the league announced on Tuesday.

The Bulldogs added diving for the first time in program history last season and Tardif becomes the first one to earn a conference honor. Against Holy Cross, Tardif finished second in the 1 meter dive with a score of 150.38. She then went on to finish third in the 3 meter dive with a score of 153.15. Tardif's score was just off her season-best, while she recorded a personal best score in the 3 meter.

After having her four-week stranglehold on the award snapped last week, Ostrander earned her sixth NEC Swimmer of the Week honor of the season and the 15th of her career. She shared the award with Mount St. Mary's swimmer Courtney Griffith. Ostrander won all three individual events against the Crusaders and also set a pool record to help the Bulldogs cruise to a victory. She won the 50 free (24.93), 50 back (28.20), 200 IM (2:15.09) and set a pool record in the 100 back (58.45) during the opening leg of the 400 medley relay. Ostrander's opening leg helped the relay team set a pool record with a time of 4:01.78.

Bryant will have a week off before concluding the regular season next weekend (Feb. 16) at the UConn Invitational.
