SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Freshman Taylor Poliseno's (Stevenson Ranch, Calif.) victory in the 100 fly highlighted a strong day for the Bryant University women's swimming and diving team as they earned a 155-142 victory over conference rival Central Connecticut on Saturday afternoon at Jack Suydam Natatorium.

The Bulldogs (3-1) have now defeated the Blue Devils (0-3) in each of the past two seasons. New Hampshire won the tri-meet, defeating Bryant, 222-71, and CCSU, 214.5-84.5. The Wildcats improved to 5-0 with the victories.

Quickly becoming one of Bryant's top swimmers, Poliseno continued the outstanding start to her career with the only victory on Saturday. Swimming the 100 fly for the first time, Poliseno won the event with a time of 59.68. She also helped the 200 free relay team to a second-place finish, swimming the lead leg.

Despite just one first-place finish, the Bulldogs received strong performances from several swimmers. Freshman Meghan Claflin (Newburyport, Mass.) recorded her best time of the season in the 1000, finishing second with a time of 10:46.42. Sophomore Elisabeth Schauer (Pelham, N.Y.) finished in the top three in both back events, taking second in the 100 (1:00.41) and third in the 200 (2:11.93), classmate Jamie Schaefer (Durham, N.C.) finished third in the 100 fly (59.92) and freshman Erin Daly (Reading, Mass.) finished third in the 500 free (5:17.50).

Bryant returns to the pool in two weeks when it hosts Maine on Friday, Nov. 15.
