WSWM tops Maine, 163-99, on Friday

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Sophomore Lauren Doerrman (Oley, Pa.) took home three individual first-place finishes to lead the Bryant University women's swimming and diving team to a 163-99 victory over Maine on Friday night at the Chace Athletic Center Pool.

With the victory, the Bulldogs (4-2) have now defeated the Black Bears (1-3) each of the past two seasons.

On Friday, Doerrman was dominant for the Black and Gold. She began her night with a victory in the 1000 free, touching the wall in 10:47.22. Doerrman then claimed the 500 with a time of 5:14.66 and capped her night with a victory in the 200 IM (2:14.10).

The Bulldogs also received first-place finishes from sophomore Elisabeth Schauer (Pelham, N.Y.), senior Taylor DeBever (Denver, Colo.) and freshmen Erin Daly (Reading, Mass.) and Taylor Poliseno (Stevenson Ranch, Calif.). Schauer won both back events, claiming the 100 with a time of 1:00.01 and the 200 with a time of 2:08.80. DeBever won the 100 free (53.41) and also finished second in the 200 free (1:56.54). Daly won that event, touching the wall in 1:56.19. Poliseno continued her strong season, winning the 50 free with a time of 25.06.

Bryant returns to action on Sunday as they travel to Burlington, Vt., to take on the Catamounts. The meet is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
