Bulldogs finish 2013 at URI

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Freshman Erin Daly (Reading, Mass.) took home a pair of first-place finishes but the Bryant University football team fell to Rhode Island, 167-124, on Saturday afternoon at the Tootell Aquatics Center.

The Bulldogs finished the first semester of the season with a 4-4 mark in dual meets. The Rams improved to 5-1 with the victory.

Off to a great start to her career, Daly won the 200 free and the 500 free. She finished the 200 with a time of 1:56.25 and the 500 with a time of 5:12.60. Bryant also received first-place finishes from sophomore Jamie Schaefer (Durham, N.C.) and freshman Taylor Poliseno (Stevenson Ranch, Calif.). Schaefer won the 200 fly with a time of 2:09.77 and finished second in the 100 fly with a time of 1:00.35. Poliseno won the 100 fly with a time of 59.07 and finished second in the 50 free with a time of 24.96. Sophomore Elisabeth Schauer (Pelham, N.Y.) finished second in the 100 (59.70) and the 200 (2:11.54) back.

The Bulldogs return to action on Jan. 18 when they host Massachusetts at the Chace Athletic Center. Over winter break, Bryant will take its annual training trip to Puerto Rico.
