Ten Bulldogs named All-NEC in swimming

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – After another historic season in the pool, ten members of the Bryant University women's swimming and diving team were named All-Northeast Conference, the league announced on Friday.

Behind a stellar team performance, the Bulldogs swam to a second-place finish at the NEC Championships, the highest finish in program history. All-conference performers are the top three finishers in individual events and the top three relay teams.

Senior Taylor DeBever (Denver, Colo.) led the way as she earned six all-conference honors. She wrapped up her outstanding career with a First Team All-NEC selection in the 200 free and third-team honors in the 500 free.

Sophomore Lauren Doerrman (Oley, Pa.) was the other Bulldog to earn Second Team All-NEC honors as she finished second in the 400 IM. Classmate Elisabeth Schauer (Pelham, N.Y.) earned a pair of third-team honors in the 100 and 200 back, while freshman Erin Daly (Reading, Mass.) swam to third-team honors in the 1650 free.

Bryant's 200, 400 and 800 free and 200 medley relay all earned all-conference laurels. The 800 free relay team of DeBever, Daly, Meghan Claflin (Newburyport, Mass.) and Kaitlin Buckley (Duxbury, Mass.) earned second-team honors. Schauer, Alexandra Morreale (Short Hills, N.J.) and Dana Yu (Bridgewater, N.J.) joined DeBever on the 200 medley relay team that finished third. Taylor Poliseno (Stevenson Ranch, Calif.), Yu, Buckley and DeBever finished third in the 200 free relay, while Mara Valenzuela (Bridgewater, N.J.) joined Daly, DeBever and Buckley to earn third-team honors in the 400 free.
