Bio

As a sophomore: One of Bryant's top swimmers in the fly and IM events during 2014-15 ... Finished seventh in both the 100 and 200 fly at the NEC Championships ... Posted season-best times of 57.24 and 2:07.34 in the two events ... Also finished 12th with a season-best time of 2:10.00 in the 200 IM at the championships.

As a freshman: Competed in eight events for the Black and Gold mainly swimming in the 200 IM, 100 Fly, and 200 Fly … Earned 28 top-10 finishes overall with first-place finishes in the 200 IM vs. Umass on Jan. 18 (2:15.40), 100 Fly vs. Holy Cross on Feb. 1 (1:01.02), and 200 Breast vs. SFC/NJIT on Jan. 19 (2:31.33) … Had a strong showing at the NECs, finishing sixth in the 200 fly (2:06.32), 11th in the 100 fly (57.28) and 14th in the 200 IM (2:09.95).

Before Bryant: A four-year varsity letterwinner at La Salle ... Won the CIF D4 championship in the 100 fly and 50 free in 2011 ... Helped her team to a runner-up finish at the D4 championships in 2011 ... Led team to the CIF D4 championship and also won the 100 fly and 100 back in 2012 ... Finished third in the 100 fly and 100 back in the D3 CIF championships in 2013 ... Named first Del Rey League each of her final three years.

Personal: The daughter of Hazel and Edward Torrez, Samantha Torrez was born on Aug. 21, 1995 ... Has one brother, James, and two sisters, Jacqueline and Raquel.
