Bulldogs grab medal in 800 free relay on day one of NECs

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University women's swimming and diving team earn its first medal of the week, finishing third in the 800 free relay on day one of the Northeast Conference Championships.

After two events, the Bulldogs are currently in fourth place with 30 points. CCSU is the leader with 40 points after winning both the 200 medley and 800 free relay.

Bryant earned a bronze medal in the 800 free relay after earning silver last year. Erin Daly (Reading, Mass.), Valeria Watson (Mexico City, Mexico), Caitlin Hanahoe (Eden Prairie, Minn.) and Mara Valenzuela (Bridgewater, N.J.) combined to finish with a time of 7:34.37.

The Black and Gold finished fourth in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:45.67. Nicole Salzano (Elmwood Park, N.J.), Alexandra Morreale (Short Hills, N.J.), Dana Yu (Bridgewater, N.J.) and Taylor Poliseno (Stevenson Ranch, Calif.) combined on the fourth-place effort.

The championships continue on Thursday in Cambridge, Mass., and will begin at 10 a.m.
