Stemen, Burdick win synchronized diving on day one of WPI Invite
SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University women's swimming and diving team opened up the WPI Invitational on Friday night in Worcester, Mass.
The Bulldogs competed in the 800 free relay, the 1650 free and 1-meter dive. Only the 1-meter dive was officially scored because teams still have to compete in the relay and 1650 on Saturday.
Friday's 1-meter dive was a bit different as the teams competed in a synchronized diving event like they do in the Olympics. Carissa Stemen (Naples, Fla.) and Ann Burdick (Glenmont, N.Y.) teamed up to win the event, while Kelci Abernethy (Chandler, Ariz.) and Stephanie Jennings (Elmont, N.Y.) finished second.
Day two begins on Saturday at 8:00 am.
