Rice, Salzano tabbed by the NEC, ECAC

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University women's swimming and diving sophomore Nicole Salzano (Elmwood Park, N.J.) and freshman Jillian Rice (Trumbull, Conn.) have been named the Northeast Conference and ECAC Swimmer and Rookie of the Week, respectively, the leagues announced on Tuesday.

The weekly honors come on the heels of a dominating performance by the underclassmen this past weekend against Holy Cross. Salzano and Rice helped the Bulldogs defeat the Crusaders 190-67 on senior day Saturday.

Salzano takes home her first weekly honor after winning two individual events and helping the Black and Gold win both relay events. She won the 1000 free with a time of 10:49.04 and the 200 back with a time of 2:07.82. Both times rank inside the NECs top-10 for the year. Salzano then helped the 200 medley relay and the 200 free relay to victories to bookend the meet.

Rice claims her third NEC Rookie of the Week nod after winning the 500 free and the 200 IM on Saturday. She won the 500 free with a time of 5:12.85 and the 200 IM with a time of 2:14.92. In addition, she was a part of the 200 free relay team that closed the meet with a victory.
