Bulldogs in fourth after day two of NECs

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University women's swimming and diving team placed three swimmers in the 'A' final of the 500 free on day two of the Northeast Conference Swimming and Diving Championships at MIT in Cambridge, Mass.

The Bulldogs are in fourth place with 149 points after two days of competition. Central Connecticut leads the way with 251 points, while Wagner is second with 223 and LIU Brooklyn is third with 165.

Bryant enjoyed a great team effort in the 500 free as Erin Daly (Reading, Mass.), Nicole Salzano (Elmwood Park, N.J.) and Valeria Watson (Mexico City, Mexico) all finished in the top eight. Daly finished fourth (5:04.27), Salzano finished sixth (5:05.52) and Watson finished seventh (5:07.58). Senior Kelley Murphy (Salisbury, Md.) also finaled in the event, finishing 15th with a time of 5:10.87.

The Black and Gold also had three swimmers final in the 200 IM. Senior Lauren Doerrman (Oley, Pa.) finished eighth (2:08.21), while classmate Julia Messina (Canandaigua, N.Y.) finished 15th and junior Samantha Torrez (Whittier, Calif.) finished 16th. Bryant's other lone individual finalist was senior Dana Yu (Bridgewater, N.J.) who finished 12th in the 50 free.
