Bulldogs fall to Brown and MIT on Saturday

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University women's swimming and diving team was defeated by Brown and MIT on Saturday afternoon in Providence.

The Bulldogs fell to the Bears, 248-52, and lost 169-128 against MIT.

Bryant received several strong individual performances. Sophomore Jillian Rice (Trumbull, Conn.) finished fourth in the 50 free (24.65) and sixth in the 200 free (1:57.44), while junior Nicole Salzano (Elmwood Park, N.J.) and freshman Alaina Scifo (Ipswich, Great Britain) performed well in both back events. Salzano and Scifo went 4-5 in the 100 back and 5-6 in the 200 back.

Other top perfomers included senior Erin Daly (Reading, Mass.), junior Valeria Watson (Mexico City, Mexico), junior Taylor Poliseno (Stevenson Ranch, Calif.), junior Mackenzie Kirk (San Jose, Calif.) and freshmen Domenica Alcala (Cancun, Mexico) and Eliza Brant (Hauppauge, N.Y.). Daly finished 5th in the 1000, Watson was fifth in the 200 free, Poliseno finished fifth in the 100 fly, Kirk was fifth in the 400 IM, Alcala was 5th in the 200 fly and Brant finished fifth in the 100 breast and fourth in the 200 breast.

Sophomore diver Ann Burdick (Glenmont, N.Y.) finished fifth in the 3-meter dive on Saturday.

The Bulldogs return to the pool on Sunday when they host Vermont at noon. The meet will be streamed live and free of charge on NECFrontRow.com.
