Svärd wins third consecutive Rookie of the Week, Jennings earns Diver of the Week honors

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Freshman Elin Svärd (Falun, Dalarna, Sweden) and junior Stephanie Jennings (Elmont, N.Y.) were named as the Northeast Conference's Rookie and Diver of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.

It is Svärd's third consecutive Rookie of the Week award, and her fourth overall, leading the Bulldogs to four consecutive dual meet wins to end the 2017-18 season. She won four total races this week and currently leads the Bulldogs in the 100 fly (56.10), 200 IM (2:05.99) and 400 IM (4:31.14). She leads the league in the two former times and places fourth in the 400 IM.

Jennings won her third Diver of the Week honor after qualifying for the NCAA Zone A meet in the 1-meter diving event for the second consecutive year. She won the event in both meets against Rhode Island (253.43) and Holy Cross (266.10). The junior also placed second in the 3-meter events during the meets with the Rams and Crusaders.

Both will be back in the pool with their Bulldogs starting February 21, when the chase for a Northeast Conference Championship begins at the Nassau County Aquatic Center in East Meadow, N.Y.
