Scifo enjoys strong weekend at Harold Anderson Invite

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Junior Alaina Scifo (Ipswich, Great Britain) won two individual events to lead the way for the Bryant University women's swimming and diving team at the Harold Anderson Invitational.

Bryant finished the three-day meet in fourth with 427 points. 

How it Happened Saturday

  • Scifo picked up her first first-place finish of the weekend, winning the 500 free with a time of 5:05.08. She went on to finish second in the 100 back (58.66).
  • Bryant had two swimmers win B finals on Saturday as senior Jillian Rice (Trumbull, Conn.) won the B final in the 500 free and sophomore Alexa Rivera (Boynton Beach, Fla.) won the B final in the 200 IM.

How it Happened (Sunday)

  • On Sunday, Scifo grabbed her second first-place finish as she won the 200 back with a time of 2:06.10.
  • Rivera also swam in the A final of the 200 back, finishing fifth.
  • On the boards, senior Kelci Abernethy (Chandler, Ariz.) led a Bryant contingent that swept the top three spots in the 3-meter. Abernethy finished first with a score of 219.35, while classmates Stephanie Jennings (Elmont, N.Y.) and Ann Burdick (Glenmont, N.Y.) finished second and third.

The Bulldogs return to the pool following Thanksgiving when they head to the Gompei Invitational. The three-day meet begins on Nov. 30 at WPI.
