Three represent swim & dive in postseason

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Senior Kelci Abernethy (Chandler, Ariz.), junior Alaina Scifo (Ipswich, Great Britain) and sophomore Elin Svärd (Falun, Dalarna, Sweden) will represent the Bryant University women's swimming and diving team in the postseason next week.  

Abernethy will become the first female diver in program history to compete at the NCAA Championship Zone A Diving Meet, while Scifo and Svard will swim at the CSCAA National Invitational Championship. The CSCAA NIC will run from March 14-16 at Cleveland State, while the Zone A diving meet will run from March 11-13 in Annapolis, Md.

The most accomplished diver in program history, Abernethy will close out her career with another monumental moment. Abernethy was named the Northeast Conference Diver of the Year as a freshman after winning both the boards. This winter, she returned to the podium, winning a gold medal in the 1-meter dive. Abernethy holds school records in 1-meter (280.90 and 3-meter (280.25).

Scifo put together an outstanding performance at the NEC Championships last month, winning seven medals. She won two individual gold medals and helped the Bulldogs win three relay golds.

Svard helped three relays win gold, while also picking up an individual gold in the 100 fly. As a freshman, Svard was named the NEC Rookie of the Meet after winning five gold medals and six medals overall.
