Rice earns NEC Scholar-Athlete honors

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University women's swimming and diving senior Jillian Rice (Trumbull, Conn.) has been named the Northeast Conference Women's Swimming and Diving Scholar-Athlete of the Year for the second-straight year.

Rice excelled in the pool and in the classroom this past winter, helping the Black and Gold win their second-straight NEC Championship while holding a 3.61 overall GPA.

This past winter was Rice's best in the pool as she became just the second swimmer in program history to earn NEC Swimmer of the Meet honors. She won three individual gold medals and was a member of four gold-medal winning relay teams. Rice became just the second swimmer in team history to win the 50 free at the NEC Championships and helped the Bulldogs set three conference relay records.

In the classroom, Rice has posted a 3.61 GPA as an applied psychology major. She is a four-time member of the NEC Academic Honor Roll.
