Grenon and Chambo earn NEC weekly honors

Smithfield, R.I. – The Northeast Conference selected two Bryant University swim and dive members for the NEC weekly honors on Wednesday afternoon.

 

Kyri Chambo (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) was named NEC Diver of the Week for her efforts in the win against Marist on Saturday. Chambo finished second in the three-meter dive with a score of 215.00. She also finished third in the one-meter dive (207.68). This is the fifth time this season and second week in a row that Chambo has earned this award.

Fellow freshman Sammi Grenon (Cheshire, Conn.) was named NEC Rookie of the Week. Grenon won the 1000 freesyle (10:30.48) and the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:11.62. She also finished second in the 500 freestyle (5:14.09). This is the first time this year that Grenon has been named NEC rookie of the week.

Teammates Alexa Rivera (Boynton Beach, Fla.) and Reetta Kanervo (Oulu, Finland) were named NEC Prime Performers. Rivera won the 100 freestyle (53.33) and 200 freestyle with a time of 1:57.52. She also won the 200 individual medley (2:11.47) and was a part of the second-place team in the 200 medley relay. Kanervo placed first in the 50 freestyle (24.48) and the 100 butterfly (57.80). She also earned third-place in the 100 freestyle (54.48) and was on the winning team in the 400 freestyle relay.
