2020 NEC Swimming and Diving Championships

Smithfield, R.I. – The Bryant University women's swimming and diving team look to go for the three-peat at the 2020 Northeast Conference swimming and diving Championships in East Meadow, N.Y.

The Bulldogs won their second NEC title in a row last year and scored a total of 863.5 points.

"Can't wait for the meet to begin. The women are more than ready for competition to begin," head coach Katie Cameron said. "We are confident we can finish on a high note. Excited to see what we can do this week. Go Bulldogs!"

This week Bryant will have many standout swimmers during the competition. Junior Alaina Scifo (Ipswich, Great Britain) is seeded first in the 100 and 200 backstroke and is seeded third in the 500 freestyle. Scifo won the 200 back at last year's competition. Classmate Alexa Rivera (Boynton Beach, Fla.) is seeded second in the 200 and 400 individual medley and also the 100 butterfly. Rivera won the 200 IM at last year's championships. Senior Alyssa DiFiore (Wethersfield, Conn.) is seeded first in the 500 free and second in the 1650 free.

Freshman Reetta Kanervo (Oulu, Finland) and Erin Doruska (Ankeny, Iowa) will look to continue the winning tradition for the Bulldogs. Kanervo is seeded first in the 50 free and third in the 100 free. Doruska is seeded second in the 100 and 200 free.

In diving, Gabrielle Ritzer (Sutton, Mass.) is seeded first in the three-meter dive and second in the one-meter dive. Freshman Kyri Chambo (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) is seeded fourth in both diving events.

The Black and Gold will look to showcase their dominance of the relay at this year's NEC Championships. The Bulldogs are seeded first in the 200 and 400 medley relay, the 400 free relay, and second in the 800 free relay.

The 2020 NEC Championships will start tonight and run through Saturday at the Nassau County Aquatics Center.
