Bulldogs Lead at WPI; Lord and Lajoie Swim at U.S. Open

WORCESTER, Mass./GREENSBORO, N.C.- Seven event wins highlighted a strong opening day of the Gompei Invitational for the Bryant swimming and diving teams, who lead the team standings heading into the weekend. Reagan Lord and Griffin Lajoie also repped the Black and Gold at the U.S. Open, swimming today in the 100 back.

The Bulldogs took home three relay wins and four individual victories at WPI. Julia Stenhard and Nellie Clark each won two relays and an individual event to lead the way. Roman San Juan, Erin Doruska, and Natalia Kuipers also picked up multiple event wins on the day.

Bulldog Notes and Notables

  • Bryant started the day with a win in the mixed 200 medley, San Juan, Clark, Stenhard, and Conner Lofstrom took the top spot with a time of 1:39.89.

  • The women's 200 medley team of Stenhard, Clark, Doruska, and Marcella Figueroa kicked off the evening session with a big win, setting a meet record with a time of 1:46.32.

  • San Juan won the men's lone individual event of the day, taking the 200 IM with a time of 1:52.77.

  • Kuipers swam a 5:00.56 to pace a 1-2-3 finish for the Bulldogs in the 500 free. Makayla Pearce and LeGallais came home in the second and third spots.

  • Clark won the 200 breast, hitting the wall at 2:20.05.

  • Bryant's second podium sweep of the night came in the women's 100 fly, as Stenhard (56.98), Jill Carline, and Doruska claimed the top three spots.

  • The women's 800 free team of Carline, Kuipers, LeGallais, and Doruska rounded out the night with a win, swimming a time of 7:40.31.

  • Reagan Lord swam a personal best of 1:04.05 in the long course 100 backstroke at the U.S, Open, good for 32nd out of 51 entries. Griffin Lajoie swam a 58.89 on the men's side, 39th out of 54.
