Bulldog Men and Women Both in Second After Night Two of AE Championships

WORCESTER, Mass.- The Bryant swimming and diving teams won four more medals on the second night of the America East Championships, including their first gold. Both teams did well enough to place second in the overall standings halfway through the meet.

Sammi Grenon took the Bulldogs' first America East gold with a school record swim in the 200 IM. Drew Arnold, Leo Luna, and the women's 200 free relay teams also took home medals on night two.

Bulldog Notes and Notables

  • Drew Arnold started the night with a silver medal in the three-meter dive, his second silver in as many days. He scored a 279.90 in the finals. Will Arnold, Chris Buonocore, and Nathan Sideris finished sixth, seventh, and eighth for the Bulldogs.

  • Leo Luna won Bryant's first individual swimming medal with a bronze in the 500 free, hitting the wall at 4:28.78. Andrew Gamper (sixth) and Griffen Schimmel (eighth) also placed in the A-final.

  • Sammi Grenon won the 200 IM with a new school record of 2:01.87. Reagan Lord finished just off the podium, coming home fourth.

  • The women's 200 free relay quartet of Jill Carline, Marcella Figueroa, Erin Doruska, and Laurel Carey closed the night with a silver medal, swimming a 1:34.16 to tie UMBC for second.

  • Natali Kuipers placed eighth in the 500 free, swimming a 5:02.33.

  • Griffin Lajoie placed fifth in the 200 IM, swimming a 1:50.31.

  • Carey placed fifth in the 50 free with a time of 23.85.

  • The men's 200 free relay team of Conner Lofstrom, Alex Rowson, Chase Konstantakos, and Mason Campbell placed fourth with a time of 1:22.05.
