Bryant picks up five medals and four program records on Thursday

LEXINGTON, VA - The Bryant University swimming & diving team picked up five medals, four program records, and a pool record on Day 2 of the America East Championships.

On the men's side, the Bulldogs end the day in second with 279 points, only 13 points behind Binghamton. On the women's side, the Black and Gold sit in third place with 239 points.

Notes and Notables

  • Makayla Pearce took gold in the 500 free to kick off Day 2's finals. The sophomore's time of 4:51.17 is a new program record.
  • Leo Luna made it a clean sweep of the 500 free with his first place finish in the event. Luna's time of 4:26.22 earned him VMI's pool record as well as the Bryant program record in the 500 free.
  • Junior Reagan Lord grabbed her first individual medal of the week when she took silver in the 200 IM. Lord swam a 2:02.60 to place on the podium.
  • Freshman James Misto picked up his first individual medal of the week with his third place finish in the 50 free. Misto's time of 19.80 was his personal best and earned him the program record in the event.
  • In a tight race, the men's 200 free relay team took second with a time of 1:20.19. In addition to taking the silver, the team of Misto, Gustav Persson, Chase Konstantakos, and Conner Lofstrom claimed the program record in the event.

The Bulldogs are back in action for Day 3 of the America East Championships. The event lineup for Friday includes the 400 IM, the 100 fly, the 200 free, the 100 breast, the 100 back, the 400 medley relay, and men's 1 meter diving.
