Brown named NEC Rookie of the Week

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – After another solid showing over the weekend, freshman Ryan Brown (Austin, Texas) earned her first Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week honor, announced the NEC Tuesday.

Brown scored perhaps the biggest singles win of her young career on Saturday with a 7-5, 6-2 victory over Quinnipiac's Jacqueline Raynor, an All-NEC first team selection a year ago.  The #2 flight win helped propel the Bulldogs to a 4-3 triumph over the Bobcats.  Brown, who also fell on Friday to Yale's Hanna Yu, has compiled a 9-7 singles record this season and is 12-9 in doubles playing primarily with classmate Marion Bouillin (San Diego, Calif.).

The Bulldogs will look to pick up the first league of the season when they faceoff with Sacred Heart, Saturday in Smithfield.
