Bulldogs have strong showing at Army Invite

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Behind a strong showing from sophomores Ryan Brown (Austin, Texas) and Marion Bouillin (San Diego, Calif.), the Bryant University women's tennis team put forth a solid showing at the Army Invitational over the weekend.

Brown and Bouillin advanced all the way to the semifinals of the No. 1 doubles flight as the #7 overall seeded tandem. The duo earned wins over Sophia Dzulynsky and Sydney Young (Quinnipiac), 8-7, Victoria Falk and Carolyn Pitman (Army), 8-5, and LIU Brooklyn's Caroline Konigsfeldt and Sanna Louwers, 8-7, before falling to Ariellen Griffen and Aarzoo Malik of UMass, 8-5, in the semifinals. As a pairing this season, Brown and Bouillin are 9-3 overall.

Sophomore Briana Leonard (Westford, Mass.) earned a victory in the opening round of No. 2 singles flight with a win over Army's Eva Sung, 7-5, 1-6, 11-9, while senior Devlin-Ann Ammendola (Massapequa, N.Y.) and freshman Stefanie Arroyo (Gurabo, Puerto Rico) each earn opening round wins in the No. 4 singles flight.

Freshman Ashanti Campfield (Stratford, Conn.) advanced to the semifinals of the Flight 3 consolation bracket, earning strong victories over LIU's Brittany Thompson, 8-4, and Army's Victoria Falk, 8-5.

The Bulldogs continue their 2014 season over the weekend with action at the USTA Invitational and a dual match at Hartford on Sunday.
