Bulldogs maul Hawks, 6-1, Saturday

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Behind a dominating performance from top to bottom, the Bryant University women's tennis team took down Hartford, 6-1, Saturday afternoon in West Hartford, Conn.

The Bulldogs improve to 2-0 in dual matches overall this season with victories in all but one match, while the Hawks drop their third-straight to fall to 1-3 on the year.

At No. 1  singles, sophomore Ryan Brown (Austin, Texas) improved to 2-0 at the top spot in dual matches knocking off Emily Sneddon, 6-1, 6-0, with classmate Marion Bouillin (San Diego, Calif.) following suit with a 7-3, 7-5 win over Katie Long at No. 2 singles.

Sophomore Briana Leonard (Westford, Mass.) and freshman Nina Luiggi (Nottingham, England) also improved to 2-0 on the year with wins at No. 4 and 5 singles, with reigning Northeast Conference Rookie of the Month Ashanti Campfield (Stratford, Conn.) taking down Gianna Sabino, 6-0, 6-2, at No. 6 singles.

The Black and Gold dominated the doubles competition as well, with Brown/Bouillin, Campfield/Linnea Sjoberg (Stockholms län, Sweeden), and Stefanie Arroyo (Gurabo, Puerto Rico)/Devlin-Ann Ammendola (Massapequa, N.Y.) all picking up victories over Hartford.

Bryant returns to action on Saturday when they compete at the URI Doubles Invitational on Saturday in Kingston, R.I.
