Women's tennis takes down FDU, 5-2, Sunday

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University women's tennis team earned its first Northeast Conference victory of the season with a 5-2 win over Fairleigh Dickinson Sunday in Teaneck, N.J.

In doubles play, sophomore tandem Ryan Brown (Austin, Texas) and Marion Bouillin (San Diego, Calif.) came back from a 5-2 deficit to take the No. 1 doubles point, 8-6, over Gisela Castany and Maryia Krachok. The Bulldogs went on to earn the doubles point with a FDU default at No. 3 doubles.

In singles action, Brown and Bouillin each completed a perfect 2-0 day with victories at the No. 1 and 2 spots, respectively. Brown knocked off Nicole Chis, 7-5, 6-3, to improve to 6-5 overall at No. 1 singles while Bouillin defeated Shreya Pasrich in comeback fashion, 3-6, 6-4, 6-2.

At No. 5 singles, freshman Ashanti Campfield (Stratford, Conn.) took down Alex Bryant with ease to secure the 5-2 Bryant victory.

The Bulldogs return to action on Friday when they continue their NEC slate with a  showdown at Sacred Heart at 1 p.m.
