Brown picks up third ECAC Player of the Week nod

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Coming off a historic run through the Northeast Conference Championships, sophomore Ryan Brown (Austin, Texas) of the Bryant University women's tennis team was once again named ECAC Player of the Week, announced the league Wednesday afternoon.

No stranger to the weekly awards circuit, Brown picks up her third ECAC Player of the Week honor fresh off the Bulldogs' 2015 NEC Championship win. Brown was terrific for the Black and Gold over the weekend, sweeping the No. 1 singles matchups all the way to the title.

On Friday, she knocked off Wagner's Marina Rull Valvieso, 6-2, 6-3, before making quick work on SFU's Rafaela Panizza, 6-3, 6-3, in Saturday's semifinal matchup. On Sunday, the sophomore picked up arguably her most impressive win of the entire year, knocking off top-seeded LIU Brooklyn's Sanna Louwers, 6-2, 6-1, to help the Bulldogs clinch the 4-0 victory.

Brown, who is a strong candidate for NEC Player of the Year, has posted a 9-7 overall mark at No. 1 singles, including 4-2 vs. NEC opponents.

Looking ahead, the Bulldogs' next opponent will be decided on Tuesday, April 28 at 5 p.m. with the NCAA Selection Show on NCAA.com with first round regional action kicking off on Saturday, May 9.
