Arroyo plays in flight C quarterfinal, Luiggi/ Tan and Brown/Bouillin reach doubles quarterfinal at Army Invite

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Junior Stefanie Arroyo (Gurabo, Puerto Rico) of the Bryant University women's tennis team found great success over the weekend, as she played her way into the flight C quarterfinals at the West Point Invitational.

Arroyo defeated Adrianne Alfonso of Sacred Heart, 2-6, 6-0, 10-3, in the opening round of the tournament, before topping Callie Morlock of Marist, 6-4, 6-0, in the round of 16. The junior collided with Alexis Zobeideh of Fordham in the quarterfinals, where she was unable to play due to injury.

Junior Nina Luiggi (Nottingham, England) teamed up with rookie Megan Tan (Calgary, Canada) to reach the flight B doubles quarterfinals. The Bryant duo defeated pairs from Fairleigh Dickinson and Fordham, before second-ranked Sitilia Rencheli and Layla Rodriguez of Quinnipiac trumped Luiggi and Tan, 6-1, in the quarterfinals. Alone, Luiggi went on to make it to the flight C singles consolation, where she withdrew against Rodriguez.

In similar fashion, seniors Ryan Brown (Austin, Texas) and Marion Bouillin (San Diego, Calif.) reached the quarterfinals after beating pairs from Binghamton and Quinnipiac. In the quarterfinals, number-one seeded Hanna Kantewein and Milena Toseva of Boise State defeated the Bryant twosome, 6-2, in route to their, 6-3, championship victory.
