Bulldogs fall to Red Storm on Sunday night

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – After opening NEC play with a dominant win over Mount St. Mary's on Friday, the Bryant University women's tennis team suffered a 7-0 nonconference loss to St. John's on Sunday night.

The Bulldogs' (2-10, 1-0 NEC) pair of Ashanti Campfield (Stratford, Conn.) and Nina Luiggi (Nottingham, England) defeated the Red Storm's (12-3, 4-0 BIG East) duo of Stephanie Elgegren and Jaide Collins at No. 2 doubles, but St. John's went on to capture the doubles point after winning at one and three.

The Red Storm won one through six, including Anna Morozova's, 6-3, 6-4 victory over Marion Bouillin (San Diego, Calif.) at No. 1 singles. Linnea Sjoberg (Stockholm, Sweden) battled in the second game but ultimately fell, 6-3, 7-5, at No. 2 singles. Ryan Brown (Austin, Texas) also had a strong second game, losing the tiebreak, 7-6 (1), after dropping the first game, 6-2, at No. 5 singles.

In an action-packed week, the Bulldogs face Providence on Tuesday, Boston University on Friday and host LIU Brooklyn on Saturday at Centre Court in East Providence.
