Bulldogs cap off regular season with 6-1 win over Seahawks

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – In their regular-season finale, the Bryant University women's tennis team took down Wagner, 6-1, on the road.

The Bulldogs (5-12, 4-1 NEC) took a 1-0 lead after sweeping the doubles point. Marion Bouillin (San Diego, Calif.) and Ryan Brown (Austin, Texas) teamed up to win, 6-3, at No. 1 doubles. The Bryant pair of Ashanti Campfield (Stratford, Conn.) and Nina Luiggi (Nottingham, England) were victorious at No. 2 doubles, 6-4. Stefanie Arroyo (Gurabo, Puerto Rico) and Linnea Sjoberg (Stockholm, Sweden) were triumphant at No. 3 doubles, 6-1.

The Bulldogs captured their remaining five points at singles 1-5. Bouillin topped Vedika Anand, 7-5, 6-4, at No. 1 singles. Sjoberg defeated Avika Sagwal, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4, at No. 2 singles. Campfield was successful at No. 3 singles, while Arroyo scored at No. 4 singles. Brown defeated Brenda Cumpa, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 5 singles.

The Seahawks (9-8, 3-4) scored their only point of the match at No. 6 singles, as Madison Pautsch topped Briana Leonard (Westford, Mass.) in three games, 6-4, 4-6, 11-9.

The Bulldogs will await the conference tournament seedings which begins next Friday, April 21st.
