Women's tennis welcomes five-member Class of 2021

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University women's tennis head coach Barbara Cilli is pleased to welcome five players this fall. The group will make up the Class of 2021.

"I am excited about this year coming up, having six new players, essentially," Cilli said. "This is a lot of talent to work with so we are looking forward to seeing how things shake out. The true test will be how they all compete this fall. That should give us some direction into spring lineups and pairings."

Gabrielle Bergeron | Quebec City, Canada | Cardinal-Roy

Before Bryant: Enrolled at Bryant in January 2017 and sat out spring season … Part of the Quebec provincial under-12 team … Ranked top 25 in Canada and best ranking of No. 3 in the Province of Quebec at the age of 15 in the under-16 category … Finished ninth at nationals in 2013.

Personal: The daughter of Martin Bergeron and Diane Bouchard, Gabrielle Bergeron was born on July 6, 1998.

Carolina Betancourt | Guaynabo, Puerto Rico | Commonwealth Parkville School

Before Bryant: A four-year letter winner at the Commonwealth Parkville School … Also lettered in softball, cross country and swimming … Helped her team to a runner-up finish at the sectional tournament.

Personal: The daughter of Raul Betancourt and Annette Perez, Carolina Betancourt was born on Aug. 16, 1999.

Haley Pollock | Warwick, R.I. | La Salle Academy
