Oropeza picks up NEC Player and Rookie of the Week honors

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University women's tennis freshman Arianna Oropeza (Weston, Fla.) was named the Northeast Conference Player and Rookie of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday.

Oropeza earned dual NEC Player and Rookie of the Week honors following a perfect 3-0 week in singles play during Bryant's trip to Bradenton, Florida.

She came from behind to post three-set wins over Army's Sasha Inchause (1-6, 6-3, 6-2) in a #3 flight match and Quinnipiac's Courtney Nash (2-6, 6-1, 6-0) at the #5 spot. Oropeza wrapped the trip with a 6-2, 6-4 conquest of Northern Iowa's Valentina Caro at #5 singles. The Weston, FL product is now 9-4 in singles play and 5-2 in doubles competition in her first collegiate season.
