Women's tennis hosts UC Irvine Friday afternoon
SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University women's tennis team wraps up its fall season on Friday when it hosts UC Irvine at the Bryant Tennis Courts. First serve is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
Scouting the Bulldogs
- Bryant enters Friday 1-0 in dual matches this fall. The Black and Gold defeated Stonehill, 5-2.
- The Bulldogs swept the doubles matches and won each of the top four singles matches against Stonehill.
- Yasemin Boru (Boca Raton, Fla.) and Sarah Hickey (Toronto, Ont.) played at No. 1 doubles in that match and also competed together at the ITA Northeast Regionals last week.
- Junior Aleksi Gottlieb (Plantation, Fla.) leads the team with six victories, while sophomore Arianna Oropeza (Weston, Fla.) has five.
A bit about UC Irvine
- The Anteaters have been all over the Northeast this fall, playing five matches so far.
- UC Irvine has posted wins over Wagner, Monmouth, Drew and Sacred Heart.
- Stephanie Hazell is 2-0 at No. 1 singles, while Gillian Parker and Danielle Garrido are tied for the team lead with three victories.
- The Anteaters are 24-5 in singles matches so far this fall.
