Bulldogs fall to LIU Brooklyn, 5-2, Saturday

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University women's tennis team went toe-to-toe with defending champ LIU Brooklyn Saturday night, eventually falling 5-2.   

How it Happened

  • LIU was able to grab the doubles point with victories at No. 1 and No. 3.
  • At No. 2, Megan Tan (Calgary, Alberta, Canada) and Aleksi Gottlieb (Plantation, Fla.) were victorious, 6-3.
  • In singles play, the Bulldogs took three of the six matches to a third set, winning two of the three.
  • Arianna Oropeza (Weston, Fla.) won at No. 3, 6-4, 2-6, 6-4.
  • At No. 5, Gottlieb finished her strong day with a come-from-behind victory. After dropping the first set, 6-3, Gottlieb won the final two sets, 6-4, 6-3.
  • Freshman Leanne Kendall (Lakeville, Mass.) won her first set at No. 6 but ultimately fell in three.
