Hickey named NEC Rookie of the Week

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University women's tennis freshman Sarah Hickey (Toronto, Ont.) was named the Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week on Tuesday.

Hickey picked up a quality #2 singles win on Saturday, outlasting Sacred Heart's Brianne Lauria - an All-NEC player a year ago - in three sets, 6-3, 6-7 (3), 6-0. She also teamed with Arianna Oropeza (Weston, Fla.) for a 7-6 victory at #1 doubles. Bryant's 6-1 win over the Pioneers improved the Bulldogs to 2-1 against NEC competition. Hickey has now won four straight singles matches and is 8-6 on the year.
