The team's second lefty, Whitham is an aggressive server and one of the physically toughest players to enter the program. A gifted multisport high school athlete, she is fast and furious on the court at all times.

As a freshman: Appeared in 15 matches and 19 sets as a rookie, collecting 26 assists, three digs and two blocks... Recorded a 14-assist outing against Central Connecticut on Oct. 2... Earned both block assists against Coppin State Sept. 27... Collected a dig against Coppin State, Holy Cross and Central Connecticut.

Before Bryant: A 2009 graduate of Notre Dame Academy, Whitham was a four-year letterwinner and three-year starter for the Cougars... Named to the Massachusetts Coaches All-State team... Two-time Boston Herald and Patriot Ledger All-Scholastic selection... Two-time Catholic Conference All-Star... Holds  the school career assists record... Also lettered all four years in basketball where she led team to a 2009 state title... Named a Patriot Ledger Honorable Mention for basketball... Played club for Mass Pats. 

Personal: Daughter of Ron and Judy Whitham, Samantha Lee Whitham was born on September 3, 1990... Father, Ron, played basketball at Springfield College from 1976-80... Mother, Judy, was a 1981 All-American who competed in varsity track and field at Bridgewater State College from 1977-81, where she remains the high jump school record holder and was inducted into the Athletics Hall of Fame in 1993... Plans to study marketing in the College of Business.
