Bryant needed just one extra game to get the pair of wins, and started out the day with a three-set win over tournament host Hampton University, 25-21, 27-25 and 25-18.

Stoner's nine kills were a game high while Scocca chipped in eight kills and six blocks, five of them solo, in the victory. Sophomore Macy Mitravich (Waimanalo, Hawaii) recorded a match-best 14 digs in the season opener.

A quintet of Bulldogs had big outings in the second match of the day, won by Bryant in four sets, despite dropping the first, 22-25 (25-18, 25-19, 25-22). Stoner (10 kills, 12 digs), Gaffney (12k, 12d) and sophomore Jadith Lorenzo (Lawrence, Mass.) (37 assists, 11 digs) recorded the first double-doubles of the year against Wofford (0-1), while Scocca and Mitravich added 11 kills and 17 digs, respectively.

Lorenzo's 37 assists were also a match high. On the day, the team featured a .198 hitting percentage with nine aces, but were outblocked by its opponents, 14-11.
