Bulldogs ink four in Class of 2015

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University volleyball head coach Theresa Garlacy is pleased to announce the addition of four student-athletes set to join the Bulldogs as the next incoming freshman class. Four incoming recruits from four different states signed on to join the Class of 2015 and will suit up for the Bulldogs starting with the 2011 season.

Yu-Shan Ashley Chang | 5-10 | Outside Hitter/Rightside | Daly City, Calif./Westmoor High School
Chang was a three-year varsity starter and four-year varsity letterwinner at Westmoor High School in Daly City, Calif…. 2009 PAL Ocean League Co-MVP selection… San Mateo Daily Journal Athlete of the Week during 2009 season… Selected to the PAL Ocean League All-Conference First Team as a sophomore… Team finished second in the PAL Ocean League in 2009 and placed fourth in 2010 and 2008… Led team to second-place finish in the San Francisco League as a freshman… Will play club for NorCal this spring… Plans to study actuarial math at Bryant.

 

 

 

Marisa Ebli | 6-2 | Outside Hitter/Rightside| Green Bay, Wis./Ashwaubenon High School
Ebli was a three-year varsity starter and letterwinner at Ashwaubenon High School in Green Bay, Wis.… Led team to a West Division Fox River Classic Conference Championship as a sophomore in 2008… Named a 2009 all-conference honorable mention… Also lettered in track and field as a thrower in 2007… National Honor Society and Spanish National Honor Society member… Member of the student council and Link Crew… Grandfather was a three-time All-American tight end at Notre Dame (1939-42) and played in the NFL and AAFC… Will play club for Fox Cities Elite Volleyball Club this spring… Plans to study politics and law or communications at Bryant.

 

 


 

Elena Lohr | 5-9 | Outside Hitter/Defensive Specialist | Loveland, Ohio/Ursuline Academy
Lohr was a two-year varsity letterwinner and starter at Ursuline Academy in Blue Ash, Ohio… Named a Girls Greater Cincinnati League (GGCL) All-Conference Second Team selection as a senior in 2010… Helped team win back-to-back GGCL Championships in 2009 and 2010… Led the Lions to the 2009 Division I state championship with an undefeated 29-0 record… Team advanced to the 2010 state quarterfinals, where it suffered its only loss of the season (27-1), snapping an impressive 56-game winning streak dating back to the beginning of the 2009 season… Father played two years of football at Vanderbilt… Plays club for Cincy Classics.

 

 

 

 

Jocelyn Taylor | 6-0 | Middle Hitter | Marlborough, Conn./RHAM High School
Taylor was a three-year varsity starter for Rham High School in Hebron, Conn.… 2010 All-State selection… Named to 2010 Senior All-Star Team… Named 2009 All-Hartford Courant honorable mention… Team won state championship all four-straight years… Led team to conference title with undefeated seasons in 2008 and 2009… Junior and senior class vice president… Member of DECA, Cultural Awareness Club, Leo and Chamber Singers… Father played basketball at UConn and Springfield College… Plays club for Connecticut Huskies High Performance Volleyball Club… Plans to study marketing at Bryant.
