ROBERT MORRIS DROPS BULLDOGS, 3-0, SATURDAY AFTERNOON; BRYANT RETURNS TO COURT SUNDAY AGAINST SAINT FRANCIS (PA)

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Lindsey Monger posted the match's only double-double and led the contest with 12 kills as Robert Morris took the Bryant University volleyball team in three sets Saturday afternoon at the Chace Athletic Center.

Junior Alexandria Clyburn (Cartersville, Ga.) paced the Bulldogs (9-16, 3-6 Northeast Conference) with eight kills and four blocks while sophomore Elena Lohr (Loveland, Ohio) registered a match-best 14 digs. Three Colonials (11-13, 4-5) posted double-figure kills, with Becky Jay and Amanda Craig chipping in 11 and 10, respectively. Jay also led the match at the net, putting up eight blocks.

The Bulldogs struggled in the early goings, dropping the first two sets, 25-14 and 25-16. But in the third, the home side opened up a 9-5 lead on the back of two Leigh Fishback (Edmonds, Wash.) service aces. The Colonials would pull no closer than two for the majority of the frame, and Bryant extended its lead to 17-12 late in the set.

But facing a 19-16 deficit, Robert Morris dug deep, closing the gap to one, 20-19, and the visitors didn't need long to tie the score at 21-21 from there. Bryant would break the knot and jump ahead again, but with the chance to claim the set, 25-22, the Bulldogs sailed the ball out of bounds, giving the Colonials the room they needed to score the next three points for the 26-24 set-three win and 3-0 match victory.

Robert Morris outkilled the Bulldogs, 47-26, on the day but saw just two aces to Bryant's five. The Colonials hit at a .340 percentage and saw Hannah Hoffman record 38 of the team's 42 assists. The visitors dominated on the block and won the digs margin as well to take the season series, 2-0.

Bryant will put the loss behind it quickly, though, as the Bulldogs face a fast turnaround, hosting Saint Francis (PA) at the Chace Athletic Center Sunday at 1 p.m. Can't make it to the game? Watch the contest LIVE on NEC Front Row.
