Clyburn records 300th block, Bulldogs fall to St. Francis Brooklyn, 3-1

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Senior Alexandria Clyburn (Cartersville, Ga.) earned the 300th block of her career Saturday afternoon and sophomore Claire Van Dyk (New Richmond, Wis.) posted her ninth double-double of the season but it wasn't enough to hold off St. Francis Brooklyn, who took a 3-1 win over the Bryant University volleyball team at the Chace Athletic Center.

Van Dyk's 15 kills paced the match while her 13 digs were matched by Kendall Gaffney (Colorado Springs, Colo.) for a team high. Clyburn's five stuffs led the Bulldogs (8-24, 3-10 Northeast Conference) as the senior also added 12 kills and seven digs. Junior Elena Lohr (Loveland, Ohio) recorded a match-high 37 assists with eight digs.

Saleesha Matthews led the Terriers (7-24, 3-10) to the four-set victory (25-18, 25-14, 16-25, 25-22) with 11 kills and a match-best six blocks, while Maggie Liu and Feliz Ramirez each registered contest highs with 16 digs. Niu also added three blocks and nine kills in the winning effort.

Senior Kaitlyn Klein (Modesto, Calif.) chipped in seven kills for the hosts while Gaffney and Mallory Wilczynski (Cary, Ill.) were also strong on the block, adding four and three, respectively. As a team, the Bulldogs won the digs battle, 64-62, and edged St. Francis Brooklyn in kills, 44-43. The Terriers posted 10 team blocks to Bryant's 8.5 and outhit the Bulldogs, .162 to .146.

The Bulldogs return to the court for their final contest of the 2013 season Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. Bryant will welcome LIU Brooklyn for the Senior Day matchup, as the Bulldogs say goodbye to their five-player senior class.
