Garlacy announces incoming Class of 2020

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University head volleyball coach Theresa Garlacy is pleased to announce the incoming Class of 2020, made up of four student-athletes from different corners the nation.

Next fall's rookie class comes from four different states and includes both offensive and defensive standouts that will look to have an immediate impact on the Black and Gold, as they go for a return trip to the postseason in 2016. The quartet will help to bolster depth and fill holes left by the graduation of four seniors.

Introducing the Bryant University volleyball Class of 2020:

Brianna Bruny  l  5-9  l  Middle Blocker/Outside Hitter  l  Biscayne Park, Fla./Pine Crest
Bruny was a three-year varsity letterwinner and starter at Pine Crest High School after spending her freshman season at Doctors Charter School in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. … Team reached the regional semifinals in 2015 … Led squad to a state runner-up finish as a junior in 2014 … Led Pine Crest to back-to-back district championships … 2014 Miami Herald Class 4A Third Team selection … 2014 Sun Sentinel Class 4A Honorable Mention … Also earned a varsity letter in tennis as a freshman … Played club for Ocean Breeze Volleyball.


Sydney Gorski  l  6-1  l  Middle Blocker  l  Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Kenston
Gorski was a four-year varsity letterwinner and two-year starter for Kenston High School  … Helped the Bombers to three-straight Chagrin Valley Conference Championships and district titles from 2012-14 … Team won the Western Reserve Conference in 2015 … Kenston earned a regional crown and advanced to the state semifinals in 2012 … Regional semifinalists in 2013 and 2014 … 2015 Western Reserve Conference Player of the Year … Named first team all-district, News Herald First Team and Division I District II All-Star Team selection as a senior … 2015 Team MVP … Two-time captain … All-Chagrin Valley Conference Honorable Mention nod in 2013 and 2014 … 2014 Volleyball Academic Award winner for highest GPA … 2015 Western Reserve Conference Scholar-Athlete … National Honor Society member … Played club for Maverick Volleyball Club.

Nikki Kim  l  5-5  l  Libero  l  River Edge, N.J./River Dell Regional
Kim was a three-year varsity letterwinner and two-year starter for River Dell Regional High School … Spent her junior and senior seasons as an outside hitter for the Golden Hawks … Led team to Big North Conference titles in 2013 and 2015 … Won back-to-back North Group II and Group II State Championships as a junior and senior … Team was a sectional finalist in 2013 … Named an all-state third team selection, Group II All-State First Team pick, all-county first teamer and all-division first team honoree as a senior … 2015 all-star selection … Named all-county third team and all-division first team as a junior in 2014 … National Honor Society member … Played club for Sideout Sports Volleyball Club.

Patterson was a three-year varsity letterwinner and senior starter for Monte Vista High School … Led Mustangs to back-to-back league and section championships as a junior and senior … Team finished third in California in 2015 … Named an All-East Bay Athletic League selection as a senior … Senior captain … Honor roll student … Played club for NorCal Volleyball Club.
