Bulldogs conclude non-league action at Dartmouth Wednesday night (7p)

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University volleyball team dips out of league play one last time Wednesday night, traveling to Hanover, N.H., to take on Dartmouth at 7:00 p.m. in its final non-conference match of the 2016 season.

A victory against the Big Green (7-10) would solidify a winning record for the Bulldogs (13-12) outside of league action, as the team enters the contest at an even 9-9. Bryant has won six of its last seven non-conference bouts, including its most recent such outing with a 3-2 victory over UMass Lowell Oct. 5.

The Bulldogs' best record comes in three-set matches, where they are 7-4 this year against non-league competition. Six of Dartmouth's seven wins came in non-league action and the Big Green are 4-3 at home on the 2016 season, but the team is 1-9 in its last 10 outings.

Junior Kiley Robbins (Garland, Texas) has excelled against opponents outside the Northeast Conference for the Black and Gold, totaling 124 kills (2.48 per set) with 19 blocks. Senior Sara DePouw (Oconto, Wis.) averages 2.57 kills per frame (118), while sophomore Julia Flynn (Pembroke, Mass.) boasts the top average in non-league play with 2.69 kills per stanza (105).

Sophomore setter Kirstyn Sperry (Phoenix, Ariz.) could be the team's best all-around player in the non-conference slate, ranking third in kills (108), second in assists (282) and blocks (30), and four in digs (144). Junior Ally Lunsford (Minneola, Fla.) has also been integral to the Bulldogs' success, leading the side with 45 blocks and the team's top hitting percentage at .360 (103 kills).

Emily Astarita leads the Dartmouth offense with 180 kills on the year, while Kaira Lujan is the only other player with over 100 kills (117). The pair also lead the team on the block with 65 and 46, respectively. Corinne Cox (249 assists) and Zoe Leonard (237) split setting duties for the Big Green, while Cox is the team leader on the serve with 23 aces. Five different Big Green players have at least 115 digs, paced by 162 from Danielle Glinka.
