Flynn earns first-career Molten/NEC Player of the Week recognition

SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- Just a day after setting a new program record for kills in a match, sophomore outside hitter Julia Flynn (Pembroke, Mass.) has been named the Molten/NEC Player of the Week.

Flynn propelled Bryant (15-13, 6-3 NEC) to an undefeated weekend in NEC play to earn the first Molten/NEC Player of the Week award of her career. The sophomore recorded 34 kills in Bryant's 3-2 win over Robert Morris, which broke the program's single-match record that stood since 1994. The 34 kills were the most in an NEC match this season and the most in a league contest since Mackenna Lommori recorded 35 for CCSU against Sacred Heart on October 19, 2014. Flynn's 34 kills also marked the fifth-highest total in the nation this season.

She finished a 2-1 week for the Bulldogs with a pair of double-doubles and 47 total kills despite not taking a single swing against Saint Francis U. on Saturday. Flynn also averaged 2.85 digs per set, posting 11 digs against Dartmouth, 12 versus Saint Francis U. and 14 more in the win over RMU.

The Bulldogs return to action Friday, hosting Central Connecticut at the Chace Athletic Center at 7 p.m.
