SMITHFIELD, R.I. – A leader on the court and in the classroom, Bryant University volleyball senior captain and starting setter Vika Katzen (Kfar Saba, Israel) has been named a CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team selection.

The driving force behind the Bulldog offense for the last three seasons, Katzen has proven to be one of the top talents in the Northeast Conference and among the best setters in program history. The 2015 NEC Setter of the Year, Katzen currently ranks second in the league in total assists this season (733) and fourth in assists per set (7.19) while also ranking sixth in attack percentage (.257, 130 kills).

She enters weekend action ranked fifth in the all-time program record books with 2,771 career assists and fourth with 7.85 assists per set and also holds top-20 rankings in digs and digs per set. A First Team All-NEC pick a season ago, Katzen has collected an impressive 53 double-doubles in her time donning the Black and Gold, including 18 so far this year as a senior.

In the classroom, the international business major with concentrations in both economics and marketing boasts a 3.92 grade point average and is a six-time Dean's List qualifier. She has earned NEC Commissioner's Honor Roll accolades (3.75+) all three years.

Katzen and the rest of the all-district winners will now advance into the national ballot, where voting will select the 2016 CoSIDA Academic All-America Team. This is the second-straight season a Bulldog has been tabbed to the Academic All-District Team, after Debora Magalhaes did so in 2015.
