Bulldogs post top-25 GPA in nation, earn AVCA Team Academic Award and Honor Roll accolades

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University volleyball team has been named an AVCA Team Academic Award recipient for the fourth-straight season, also earning AVCA Team Academic Honor Roll accolades with a top-25 GPA among all Division I teams.

Behind a 17-player roster than averaged a 3.64 GPA on the 2016-17 academic year, the Bulldogs ranked in the top-25 of the 145 Division I women's teams recognized. All 17 players finished 2016-17 with academic year and cumulative GPAs of 3.0 or better.

In total, 882 teams earned the AVCA Team Academic Award in 2016-17, setting a new all-time record. To qualify, teams must maintain at least a 3.30 cumulative team GPA throughout the school year. This is the first time the AVCA has recognized a Team Academic Honor Roll.

Bryant has earned the AVCA Team Academic Award six times in its Division I tenure.

The Bulldogs will kick off the 2017 season August 25-26 at the Titan Tournament hosted by Cal St. Fullerton.
