Ward pegged NEC Rookie of the Week

SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- Bryant volleyball freshman Erika Ward (Rochester, Mich.) was named the Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.

Ward averaged six digs per set over the Bulldogs three matches in the Titan Tournament this past weekend. Ward tallied 19 digs against Drake in the season opener, 20 in the Bryant victory over UC Riverside and 21 versus host Cal State Fullerton. The freshman committed just four reception errors all weekend, playing in ten sets.

The laurel is the first NEC Rookie of the Week award earned by a Bulldog since 2015, when Kristin Kingi (Thousand Oaks, Calif.) picked up honors on Oct. 19 of that season.

The Bulldogs are back in action on Tuesday when they host Quinnipiac at 4 p.m. at the Chace Athletic Center. The game can be streamed for free on NECFrontRow.com.
