Bryant travels to Fairleigh Dickinson, Sacred Heart for pair of NEC matches

HACKENSACK, N.J. – The Bryant University volleyball team plays its first two road matches of Northeast Conference play this weekend with trips to Fairleigh Dickinson and Sacred Heart.

Series History vs. Fairleigh Dickinson
The Bulldogs are 12-6 against the Knights and have won seven straight matches in the series. In last year's regular-season finale in Hackensack, Julia Flynn (Pembroke, Mass.) recorded 24 kills and 12 digs in a four-set win. Sydney Gorski (Chagrin Falls, Ohio) added a career-high 13 kills. 

Series History vs. Sacred Heart
Bryant is 4-14 against Sacred Heart in the Division I era but 3-3 over the last three seasons. The Pioneers took both meetings a year ago. In the most recent meeting last November in Fairfield, Kiley Robbins (Garland, Texas) notched 10 kills and three blocks. 

Bulldog Notes and Notables

  • Bryant is 12-8 on the year and 10-2 since Sept. 8. The Bulldogs are tied with Robert Morris for the NEC lead at 3-0.
  • The Bulldogs were last in action Sept. 29 with a four-set win over Central Connecticut. Junior Julia Flynn (Pembroke, Mass.) tallied 17 kills in the victory, while junior Grace Richmeyer (DeSoto, Mo.) recorded a career-high 10 blocks.
  • Flynn is averaging 3.42 kills per set in NEC play and leads the team with 3.03 kills per set on the season. Senior Ally Lunsford (Minneola, Fla.) has recorded a team-best .311 hitting percentage.
  • Freshman Erika Ward (Rochester, Mich.) has recorded a team-best 4.10 digs per set on the year and had 20 in the win over Central Connecticut.
  • Richmeyer is averaging an NEC-best 1.75 blocks per set in conference matches.
  • The Bulldogs have won 15 straight home matches and are 33-3 at the Chace Athletic Center since the start of 2015. The home winning streak is tied for the fourth-longest in the nation entering the weekend.

A Bit About Fairleigh Dickinson
The Knights are 3-14 on the year and 0-3 in the NEC. Bryant and FDU both opened the year at the Titan Tournament in California and have played eight common opponents. The Knights are 2-6 in those matches, while the Bulldogs are 6-2. Magdalena Maksimovic leads the Knights with 2.57 kills per set and a .211 hitting percentage. Carly O'Sullivan has a team-high 4.38 digs per set. 

A Bit About Sacred Heart
The Pioneers stand at 7-9 overall and 1-2 in the NEC entering Friday's match against Central Connecticut. Liisel Nelis leads the Pioneers with 3.46 kills per set, while Makayla Dole has added 3.37. Freshman Madi Pope paces the Pioneers with 3.71 digs per set.
