Bulldogs travel to Hartford Tuesday for non-conference clash

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – The Bryant University volleyball team plays its final non-conference match Tuesday with a trip to Hartford.

Series History vs. Hartford
The Bulldogs are 4-7 against the Hawks in the Division I era but have won the last two meetings. Bryant swept Hartford in 2016 in Smithfield with 10 kills each from Kirstyn Sperry (Phoenix, Ariz.) and Julia Flynn (Pembroke, Mass.). Grace Richmeyer (DeSoto, Mo.) added eight blocks. 

Bulldog Notes and Notables

  • Bryant is 15-10 on the year and 13-4 since Sept. 8. The Bulldogs are tied with Central Connecticut for the NEC lead at 6-2.
  • The Bulldogs fell in five sets to Central Connecticut Friday in New Britain. Junior Julia Flynn (Pembroke, Mass.) led the way with 21 kills.
  • Flynn is averaging 3.85 kills per set in NEC play and leads the team with 3.31 kills per set on the season. Sophomore Brianna Bruny (Biscayne Park, Fla.) has posted a team-best .279 hitting percentage.
  • Freshman Erika Ward (Rochester, Mich.) has recorded a team-best 3.98 digs per set on the year, while junior Grace Richmeyer (DeSoto, Mo.) has tallied 0.97 blocks per set overall and 1.32 per set in NEC play.

A Bit About Hartford
The Hawks are 5-15 overall and 2-5 in the America East. Hartford was swept Friday by UMBC and is playing its first home match since Oct. 8. Abby Nash leads the Hawks with 2.33 kills per set, while Brittany Braun has posted a team-best .259 hitting percentage. Jenna Bridges paces the Hawks with 1.00 blocks per set.
