James named Massachusetts Gatorade Player of the Year

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University volleyball incoming freshman Riley James (Pocasset, Mass.) has been selected as the 2018 Massachusetts Gatorade Player of the Year, as announced this week by Gatorade.

James helped Barnstable High School to a 23-1 record, hitting .456 with 6.0 kills per set for a Red Raiders team that advanced to the Division 1 state final. James was named an AVCA Under Armour first-team All-America selection, Boston Globe Division 1 Player of the Year, PrepVolleyball All-America honoree, and played in the Under Armour All-America match at the site of the NCAA Final Four in December. James is the first Bulldog signee to earn AVCA first-team All-America distinction.

The Bryant University volleyball team begins its 2019 campaign and defense of its Northeast Conference Championship when the Bulldogs open the season in August at FGCU. The full 2019 schedule will be announced this spring.
